Actually, xxtina, I read about Pitchfork.tv on Pitchforkmedia.com, and I only found the Stereogum post because I was googling around to find out more about Pitchfork.tv. In fact, Pitchfork is the only music website I read regularly and I think Pitchfork.tv sounds 85% incredible.

You need to look into Eric Rohmer, also of the French New Wave. Most of his movies have female protagonists, and unlike Godard, they are not portrayed as sex objects are airheads (masculin-feminin), or even Truffaut, who is someone who might fool you into thinking he understands women, but you later realize he doesn't. Rohmer knows women, and films, and tells stories with their interiorities very well. Some voyeurism, but very sparse. Only a few female characters are not well done. Christiane and I have almost watched everyone of his films, some 20+, and we're still going. He is my favorite French director from the French New Wave (surpassing Truffaut).

Goner (I've changed your name to preserve your anonymity),
As your political advisor for the election in 2037 I strongly urge you to think about the statement you just made...perhaps a bit polarizing. Not that it matters as much politically, as it does intellectually (depending on your future goals), but you sound...hmmm...I'm struggling to find any better way to say this...ignorant/racist...yes...that is it. Clearly your current infatuation with rap is not teaching you much in regards to the complex black American identity that existed long before Lupe Fiasco cut a grammy winning record deconstructing hip-hop. Your understanding as of yet is very shallow, and, as always, at a critical distance just far enough to absolve you of the guilt of your...racism. Intellectually, morally, you might give a shit about this...but politically sir...if you want people to think highly of your understanding of other people you should not say that you are amazed at a series that shows black people have organizational skills.

Let me help you spin this to get your ass out of hot water...you were not amazed that they had organizational skills, but were in fact criticizing the television industry for not showing this enough on television prior to the groundbreaking series The Wire...this is your amazement...that a show would be so conscientious that it would fight black stereotypes with...SMART MUTHAFUCKIN DRUG DEALERS! Eat shit and die Tony Soprano...good thing your show doesn't cause any identity problems for the Italian middle and upper class...

...a black middle class has formed and is doing well in this country since desegration...though it suffers from an annoying mosquito buzzing in its ear, watching its every move, amazed that it finished a rubics cube, and half suspicious it contains crack-cocaine. Goner Cannon in '37--We've come a loooooong way baby.

Middle Aged Hipster: Wasn't that the title of a Moby album.
Middle Aged Hipster #2: No, it was Fat Boy Slim you thoughtless swine.

Uh, you might want to revise the language of this post ... that "black people have organizational skills"????? ... perhaps it would be better to say that "drug dealers" or "gangsters" have organizational skills?
